My Watercolors

I love watercolor with its complexity and the way the water and paint flow across the paper to create its own magic. I don't take myself too seriously, I paint for my own enjoyment and desire to capture some of God's creative wonder.

Land & Water Watercolors

I never thought I would be able to paint buildings. My good friend Pat, who designs buildings and landscapes for a living, encouraged me to press on. If you allow critics to overly influence your art, you may give up on a wonderful avocation that brings you joy. We will improve with time and dedication.

Bird Portraits

My personal encounter with birds is what led me to start painting them. Whether building a custom house for my bluebirds or a feeding station for my Oriels, their songs thrill me. Existing research concludes that birdsong is structured like human music. God in His wisdom has ordained praise from the smallest of His creatures.

Fish Portraits

Growing up I fished in the Michigan wilderness with my uncles all through the 60's. When I moved back to Michigan in 2017, my wife asked me to paint some fish for our walls.

Digital Art

It was my wife Trisha's inspiration that created the character Auggie. Nearly eight years ago our three-year-old grandson William August asked me to paint a pickle on my iPad; that began a creative storytelling series on the Adventures of Auggie. What memories we have of a little boy's adventures.

These are the pictures that I've drawn to accompany the storybooks I've written for my grandchildren.

As the years pass by I've found great joy in sharing art with family and friends.  Here are some paintings I've created for those I love.
